11 May 2011 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club has continued presenting Chucky Chipmunk and his anti-litter slogan "Stop Throwing - Start Stowing" to school and pre-school groups. This spring we took Chucky to Churchland Baptist pre-school four-year-lods and Aldersgate UMC Kinder-Prep four-year-old group by discussing litter and recycling, using a workbook prepared by members, playing a litter game, making door hangers with a picture of Chucky and having a visit from Chucky Chipmunk "in person". We expanded our presentation this year by visiting the kindergarden class at Christopher Academy and expanding the workbook to include age-appropriate puzzle pages. they also made door hangers and had a "live" vist from Chucky. and this yea we participated in Earth Day activities at Western Branch Intermediate School using a cryptogram and Chucky Chipmunk Pledge as we had about 200 students come to our station. They also met Chucky chipmunk "in person". All together we took Chucky Chipmunk to over 300 students. It is our hope that by teaching the younger population about controling litter and recycling/reusing, the future of our environment will be in good hands.
